Bogota, Medellin, and Pereira: history, coffee culture, and astonishing landscapes

On your first day, we will pick you up at the airport to take you to the hotel of your choice. You will be able to relax during the ride, which lasts approximately 30 to 60 minutes while observing the distinctive landscape of Bogota. Remember that your accommodation is included in this tour, so you don't have to worry about paying for anything when you arrive.

We will pick you up at your hotel to take you to the famous Plaza de Bolivar, the heart of the city where you can find the most important political and religious buildings of the country, such as the Cathedral, the Palace of Lievano (seat of the mayor of the city), the Palace of Justice and the National Capitol with the Palace of Nariño, headquarters of the congress and where the Colombian president lives permanently.You will also visit the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum), which exhibits the world's largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold pieces, and the Casa Museo Quinta de Bolivar, a museum of great cultural value and a significant place in the history of Colombia and its neighboring countries. At the end of the day, you will climb to an altitude of 3152 meters to the top of the Cerro de Monserrate, which is considered a mandatory stop for all visitors to Bogota, for its great ecological, religious, and gastronomic importance. After the tour, we will take you back to your hotel, or you can stay downtown to continue exploring the city.

Note: 

• Gold museum and Quinta de Bolivar are closed on Mondays, instead we visit Museo de Botero and Museo Casa de la Moneda. 
• The Casa de la Moneda Museum is closed on Tuesdays.
• On Sunday, this tour operates subject to availability and upon request.

We will take you from your hotel to a place only 45 kilometers (28 miles) north of Bogota, where you are going to visit the monument that is considered the first wonder of Colombia. It is the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, built inside a subterranean salt mine and cataloged as one of the most remarkable engineering works of Colombian architecture. Inside you will find a rich artistic and religious collection, especially salt and marble sculptures. You can tour with a guide who explains the history of the mine, the methods of salt extraction, and everything related to the cathedral construction. The colorful lights, religious altars, and spectacular monuments contrast with a separate section that includes souvenir stores, photo booths, emerald stores, and even a 3D projection room that tells the history of the mine every 30 minutes.

Breakfast. At the indicated time, transfer to the El Dorado airport in Bogotá to take a flight to the City of Pereira (Air ticket not including). Arrival at Matecaña de Pereira airport, reception and transfer to the chosen hotel in the Eje Cafetero. Check-in andaccommodation.

The day begins with a delicious breakfast. Then we will pick you up at your hotel to start the tour of La Finca del Cafe, a traditional coffee farmhouse with majestic views. Due to its good weather and fertile grounds, the coffee you find here is one of the best in the world.In addition to a stunning landscape, the Finca del Cafe allows you to learn step-by-step the process of coffee bean production. Walking through the plantations, you can see the coffee trees and participate in the manual harvesting of the coffee fruits. You can also learn how the selection and removal process works to prepare the beans for roasting and the best way to roast the coffee beans.  During this exciting tour, you can also enjoy an astonishing panoramic view on top of constructions made of guadua (a type of bamboo typical of this region. These structures are eco-sustainable). At the end of the tour, you can taste different coffee-based products such as beverages, desserts, and cakes. After finishing the trip, we will take you back to your hotel.

Breakfast. Assistance and transfer in private service to Cocora Valley enjoying the beautiful landscape. First, we ́ll have a welcome cocktail “Canelazo” and with the assistance of a specialist eco-guide we ́ll be ready to start the introduction to the natural reserve of Cocora. Then, we ́ll go to the fog ́s forest a place to admire the biodiversity of fauna and flora. There, we ́ll find the highest wax palm of the world and we ́ll connect with the earth doing a special ritual planting some palms. Then, we ́ll go to the typical village of Salento where we ́ll have a walking tour visiting its colonial streets, craft workshops and the principal viewpoint. Typical Lunch and transfer to return to the hotel or you ́ll can connect with other additional touristic activity of the region.

Notes: Due to the high influx of local and foreign visitors on Sundays and public holidays, we recommend booking this tour on different days for a better experience. This also applies to Easter Week, the end, and the beginning of the year.

We will pick you up at your hotel to start the tour, which begins in the El Poblado neighborhood, the financial and commercial center of the city. You will ascend the Cerro Nutibara to visit the famous Pueblito Paisa, a replica of a typical Antioquian village, with its traditional architecture and charming paisa style. On the way down the mountain, you will see some of Medellin's most important cultural and ecological sites, such as the Botanical Garden, Parque Explora, Parque de Los Deseos, and Parque de Los Pies Descalzos.You will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Medellín, the largest adobe construction in the world, and the emblematic Plaza de Botero, where you will find 23 bronze sculptures located in a public space, donated to the city by the painter Fernando Botero, famous for the wide and curvaceous figures that characterize his paintings. At the end of the day, you will take a tour by the subway and metro cable to observe the highlights of the city from above. After finishing the tour, we will take you back to your hotel or you can stay downtown to continue exploring the city.

Departure time: 8:30 Hrs.

We will pick you up at your hotel and leave Medellín towards the east. You will pass through Marinilla, a lovely colonial town with beautiful landscapes. Then you will arrive at the famous Peñol, a huge rock 220 meters high that you can climb if you dare to ascend its 740 steps. It is worth it because the view of the reservoir from the top is breathtaking.Then you will arrive in Guatape, considered one of the most beautiful and colorful villages in Colombia. Famous here are the zocalos (fresco-like adornments) that occupy half of the walls of the houses and represent various scenes related to the Antioquia region. The most photogenic places are, without a doubt, the Plaza de Los Zocalos and the Calle de Los Recuerdos. At the end of the trip, we will take you back to your hotel.

On your last day, we will take you from your hotel to the airport so you can continue your trip to your next destination.
